Disneyland Closing Shop to Return Popular Seating Area For Guest Comfort

Last year, Disneyland made a change to one of its shops to give guests a relaxing place to rest in the middle of their busy day in the park. However, this change did not last, and this area reverted back to a shopping space.

Now, Disneyland has confirmed to us that the seating area will be returning again this year. Keep reading to check out the details! At Mickey Visit, we cover the latest Disney news, like the most unique hotel rooms in Disney World scheduled for refurbishment and the eight changes coming to Disneyland this month.

Disneyland Seating Area Returning This Year

Disneyland’s Port Royal Curios and Curiosities will again become a seating area. Disneyland officials confirmed to Mickey Visit that the current Port Royal Curios and Curiosities Shop will reopen soon as a seating area in the same style that it operated in last year. Disneyland officials shared that they are exploring options for this area with guest comfort in mind.

The shop is already currently closed at Disneyland and the store is walled off. Some have speculated that the seating area will return. We are the first to receive confirmation that it is coming back as a seating area. We did not receive a specific reopening date for the area from Disneyland.

Last year the shop also switched to be a seating area during this time of the year and then switched back to being a store during Halloween and Christmas.

Here’s a look at the previous version of the shop as a seating area that was available last year.

That same style from last year is a jazz music hall with the purely decorative bar pictured above as a centerpiece. The name of the space also changed last year from Port Royal Curios and Curiosities to Royal Street Jazz Club, in order to align with the theming. However, it has not been confirmed that this will be the exact same theming and name change for this year.

Some of the other decor that brings this space to life include posters advertising jazz shows to make guests really feel like they are in a music hall and immerse them in the space. Let’s take a closer look at those posters:

There is a bunch of seating, whether that be at tables, stools by the bar, or at these padded benches:

These photos are all from the transformation last year. Again, it has not been confirmed whether or not this exact theming will return, but it is assumed to be similar, if not the same.

The change from Port Royal Curios and Curiosities to this seating area will mean that the Haunted Mansion merchandise previously located in the store will be elsewhere in the park. However, this change also means that the seating area of Royal Street Veranda will get extended once more, giving guests in the area more space to rest. Additional seating in New Orleans Square could draw guests away from nearby Tiana’s Palace, spreading out the crowds in the area between these seating areas.
