UPDATE Disney World Single Rider Line For Popular Ride Still Remains Though It Isn’t the Best Option

This article has been updated with new information on July 28, 2026. Walt Disney World guests looking to avoid long waits for popular rides have a few options for shorter lines, including Lightning Lane reservations and limited-capacity Disney After Hours events. Guests staying onsite at a Disney World hotel can also take advantage of the Early Theme Park Entry perk.

Another hack for skipping the wait, the single rider line, was thought to be changing earlier this week, but we now have an update clarifying this information. This comes after other recent changes to a popular ride. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including Disney’s weird rule for its most expensive photo experience and every Disney World “value”-tier resort ranked.

Single Rider Line at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Ride

Single-rider line

Single rider lines are offered at a handful of Walt Disney World attractions to help fill empty seats. Cast members do not load guests in the single rider line onto the ride continuously, but only when there is a gap that needs filling based on the number of guests being loaded from the regular line.

Sometimes the single rider line is a much shorter wait than the regular line, and other times it can be just as long. Any guest can use the single rider line, not just parties of one individual, but groups will be split up.

Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has long offered a single rider line. Among the attractions with a single rider line, Expedition Everest’s reliably has been a shorter wait time than the standby line.

Expedition Everest

Earlier this year, Disney implemented a change in Expedition Everest’s loading procedure. With that change, cast members began grouping guests in the regular line by odd- and even-numbered parties before boarding, resulting in longer waits in the single rider line and a far faster standby line generally.

In late July 2026, Disney removed the Expedition Everest single rider signage from outside of the attraction. However, the single rider line remained operational on a limited basis.

WDWNT first reported the news, saying cast members told them the single rider line would be discontinued altogether soon, but that for now, guests can enter the single rider line if it’s open by inquiring with a cast member at the umbrella near the ride entrance.

Blog Mickey visited the park and observed the single rider line only being open for a few minutes every hour. The cast member stationed at the ride entrance informs guests if the line is operating, but only if they ask.

The Disney World website and the My Disney Experience app both still list Expedition Everest as operating a single rider line at the time of this writing.

Additional information received on July 28, 2026: The Expedition Everest single rider signage has returned to the previous location and Disney confirmed to us that it was only undergoing maintenance. The single rider line remains an option for guests at this attraction. That said, there are still impacts from the line change earlier this year.

Given the change in the boarding procedure earlier this year, described above, the single rider line at Expedition Everest still moves much more slowly than it previously did. We can’t confidently recommend it as a shorter-wait hack like we used to. Now, the general standby line moves much faster than it did previously.

In addition to Expedition Everest, the following attractions at Walt Disney World utilize a single rider line:

  • Test Track at EPCOT
  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT
  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Of these attractions, we recommend using the single rider line for Millennium Falcon and avoiding it for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Rise of the Resistance’s single rider line often has a short wait, but sometimes skips the impressive pre-show. The EPCOT rides can be hit or miss in terms of their speediness.
