TRON Lightcycle / Run at Disney World Resort and TRON Lightcycle Power Run at Shanghai Disney Resort will both be celebrating the release of the new Tron: Ares film with a brand-new overlay on their attractions.

The lights on the ride will be changed from blue and orange to vibrant red and orange light trails, matching the color scheme of the new film. The red coloring in Tron: Ares will be a big change from the classic blue tones of the attraction we've become familiar with.

Nine Inch Nails

Not only will the color scheme of the ride change, but the music of Nine Inch Nails will be added to the attraction. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails are creating the soundtrack for Tron: Ares, bringing their signature synths and haunting melodies to the Tron universe.

Nine Inch Nails

The first track from the film, “As Alive as You Need Me to Be,” has already been released, with Nine Inch Nails performing the song on their most recent tour. During the performance, the lighting of the stage changed to red as the signature color of the film.

When Does the Tron: Ares Overlay Begin?

The Tron: Ares ride overlay will be available for a “limited time” at Magic Kingdom starting September 15 and Shanghai Disneyland starting September 16.

TRON Lightcycle / Run is one of the most popular attractions at Walt Disney World! You will see a large crowd each morning heading to Tomorrowland to rope drop this attraction. The lines also spike at night, as many guests also want to experience the ride with the bright lights. I imagine that this overlay will greatly increase the popularity of the attraction, even more, making a Lightning Lane Single Pass a great choice if you want to ride it at night.
