10. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (34 mph)- Magic Kingdom

Using a unique swinging mine cart vehicle system, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a family-friendly coaster designed to be accessible for the whole family. Reaching a top speed of 34 miles per hour during the ride’s largest drop of 39 feet, this coaster has been a fan favorite since its opening in 2014.

The swinging mine cart technology promotes gentle curves and turns on the coaster, making Seven Dwarfs Mine Train a viable option for one’s first roller coaster experience. The ride’s queue is also one of the most scenic and immersive in Magic Kingdom, as it truly feels as if guests are embarking through a coal mine with the seven dwarves. 

9. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (35 mph)- Magic Kingdom 

Reaching a top speed of 35 miles per hour, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a fun and inviting roller coaster enjoyed by guests of all ages. Known as “the wildest ride in the wilderness,” Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a family-friendly roller coaster that experiences various quick turns and sudden bumps throughout the ride through its iconic mountain scenery.

Big Thunder Mountain does not have any large drops, making it a fairly gentle thrill level attraction. While there might not be any large drops; however, there are various dips and turns that can certainly bring that adrenaline rush to guests of all ages. 

8. Tower of Terror (39 mph)- Hollywood Studios

The Tower of Terror has been a staple of Disney World since its opening in 1993 and is sure to bring thrill-seekers the rush they are looking for. With a top speed of 39 miles per hour on a maximum height drop of 130 feet, guests 40 inches and over can experience the suspense that comes when entering the twilight zone. 

What makes the ride so unique is its use of multiple drop sequences, leaving guests on the edge of their seats (and maybe even out of their seats during a drop) for the next movement up or down the elevator shaft. Different from many free-fall ride attractions, Tower of Terror is unique in that it uses a system to pull the elevator downward during a drop, making the sudden drops feel faster than gravity or the rate of speed at which the elevator is actually dropping. 

7. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (40 mph)- Magic Kingdom

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure replaced Splash Mountain in Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland in 2024 and has been very well received by guests of all ages. Following Princess Tiana on a log flume with both indoor and outdoor New Orleans Mardi Gras theming, guests experience a 50-foot drop into a splash zone where riders and bystanders alike may get wet.

This attraction, starring Tiana, Prince Naveen, and Louis, reaches a max speed of 40 miles per hour during the ride’s final descent. The scenery and theming of the ride, accompanied by the high-speed drop, have made Tiana’s Bayou Adventure an instant classic at Disney World.

6. Slinky Dog Dash (40 mph)- Hollywood Studios

Slinky Dog Dash, located at Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios, sends guests on a fun ride through Andy’s backyard as they experience a top speed of 40 miles per hour. This roller coaster is sure to bring fun to the whole family as its gentle thrill level, accompanied by its Toy Story theming, makes it a favorite ride for many. 

Guests experience dual launches throughout the ride, including a slingshot motion, fully embracing Slinky Dog’s dachshund-spring body. The ride serves as the center of Toy Story Land and takes guests on a bouncy ride, making it a crowd pleaser for all and a great first roller coaster for those getting their first experience with coasters, with its smooth ride and friendly theming. Guests 38 inches and taller are permitted to ride Slinky Dog Dash.

5. Expedition Everest (50 mph)- Animal Kingdom

Expedition Everest is a roller coaster found at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This ride is filled with twists and turns as the ride car journeys through the Himalayan mountains at high rates of speed. It even ventures backwards when the ride car’s front-facing track ends, and guests wait in suspense as they appear to be headed off a mountain.

Expedition Everest uses a unique switch track system where guests experience part of the ride moving forward on one track and part of the ride facing backward on another track. The ride car tunnels into a mountain, and guests experience a Yeti animatronic, bringing another element of excitement to the already thrilling experience. This ride is sure to please thrill-seekers as it reaches 50 miles per hour in the forward portion and 30 miles per hour in the backwards portion.

4. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster (57 mph)- Hollywood Studios

Rock’ n’ Roller Coaster (currently starring Aerosmith and soon to be starring the Muppets in Summer 2026) is a high-speed coaster that launches guests in a super-stretch limo 0-57 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds, making it the fastest launch at Disney World. Riders experience 5 Gs of force in the ride’s initial launch and experience a thrill of twists, turns, and three different inversions throughout the ride. 

The ride takes place indoors in a dark area with music and immersive concert theming as the super-stretch limo delivers its riders to a concert in Los Angeles. With the soon-to-be conversion from Aerosmith to the Muppets in Summer 2026, guests will be eager to see what changes will have been made to the ride. 

3. TRON Lightcycle/Run (59 mph)- Magic Kingdom

TRON Lightcycle/Run is a high-speed roller coaster that reaches 59 miles per hour. From the waiting line queue to boarding the ride’s lightcycles, guests experience an interactive ride experience and embark on a 0-59 miles per hour launch in roughly 4 seconds. TRON Lightcycle/Run embraces immersive theming throughout the ride, and guests enjoy an indoor launch, propelling the coaster’s train outdoors and then back into the attraction’s main building, where guests experience the race of dueling lightcycles as they try and spur on Team Blue to victory over Team Orange. 

Guests experience “The Grid” as if they are immersed in one of the TRON films throughout the ride. This high-speed coaster is sure to please thrill-seekers and has been the perfect addition to Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland since the ride’s inception in 2023. For a limited time, guests can experience this ride in its TRON: Ares overlay (which displays a red canopy and updated audio), which debuted in September 2025 to celebrate the newest TRON film’s release.

2. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (60 mph)- EPCOT

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is an omnicoaster that uses a reverse launch system where guests experience a 0-60 mile per hour rush in a matter of seconds, making this one of the most unique and exhilarating rides at Disney World. Ride cars, which each carry up to four individuals, use a 360-degree rotation system, spinning and rotating guests throughout the ride experience.

The coaster uses controlled rotation so that guests are able to view themed images and displays throughout the ride. Even though the cutting-edge technology is on display throughout the duration of the ride, the most unique aspect of the ride is the use of its linear synchronous motors, which use magnetic fields to propel the ride cars forward/backward quickly and are also used as a braking mechanism. 

1. Test Track 3.0 (65 mph)- EPCOT

Test Track 3.0, formerly known as Test Track and Test Track 2.0, officially reopened after a brief refurbishment and upgrade on July 22, 2025. This ride is sure to bring excitement to all who have the need for speed, as it is the fastest ride at Disney World. Test Track 3.0 takes guests on a futuristic ride of smart roads and elemental surprises and reaches a max speed of 65 miles per hour. 

This attraction is sure not to disappoint as it brings a unique element of indoor and outdoor experiences, culminating in a 65-mile-per-hour trip around the ride’s perimeter. Guests are also able to experience a General Motors sponsorship in the newest iteration of Test Track rather than the former Chevrolet division sponsorship displayed in Test Track 2.0.
