New Disney World App Change Helps Save You Extra Trip to Disney Springs

Walt Disney World has made a positive change to the My Disney Experience App which is going to help guests save an extra trip to Disney Springs.

The app has gone through a few positive improvements lately with another recent update making it easier for guests to view their future trip plans. At Mickey Visit, we report on all the recent Disney World news including new seasonal popcorn buckets and upcoming Christmas gingerbread houses.

Disney World Adds New Shopping Feature

DIsney Springs

Disney World is testing a new feature on the My Disney Experience App that will let guests search for merchandise at Disney Springs and check if the item is currently in stock. Currently, it’s only available for World of Disney during this test run.

The current test is only visible to Annual Passholders and Cast Members. If Disney World decides to keep this new app function, it will likely be rolled out to everyone.

To use this feature, guests can select the “Find Merchandise” button in the app and then search for specific theme park items. The app will then check if the item is currently in stock. Many Disney fans immediately noted that this feature is incredibly similar to the Shop Disney Parks app which was retired in 2019.

The Shop Disney Parks app has been sorely missed by guests as it made it incredibly easy to search for items as it would show in stock availability in the theme parks, resort hotels, and areas like Disney Springs. If you were searching for a specific item, you could search for it in the app, and then you’d know exactly where to go when you were in the park.

When the app was discontinued in 2019, many rumors around the time claimed it was to prevent Disney resellers from being able to easily scoop up limited merchandise to resell on eBay. This was never officially confirmed by Disney.

New Shopping Feature Adds Convenience

World of Disney

With the upcoming holiday season, this new feature could be incredibly helpful if you are looking for specific items at Disney Springs. If this testing feature is rolled out to all guests, then you could search for your item before you arrive and know if the store has it in stock.

There are always items that are popular and sell out quickly, this can also save time if you check the app to see if the store has any of these popular items before wasting a trip to Disney Springs to purchase it.
