Disney's newest island on the Disney Cruise Line itinerary, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, is now officially open and is a stop on many popular 2024 and 2025 itineraries. This is the second island exclusive to Disney Cruise Line guests joining the popular Castaway Cay which also provides an unique Disney island experience.
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point features brand new entertainment inspired from the local Junkanoo Bahamian local celebrations. Disney collaborated with local Bahamian designers to help bring this celebration to life at Lookout Cay.
We were hosted by Disney to see Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point for the first time and experience everything this new Disney Cruise Line destination has to offer. Keep scrolling to see our FIRST look at the incredible way Disney is honoring Bahamian culture with RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration. We'll be back with a full comprehensive review of the island very soon.

What is Junkanoo?
Junkanoo is one of the Caribbean's most celebrated carnivals featuring colorful costumes, dance routines, and street parades. The celebration typically takes place on Boxing Day- the day after Christmas- along with New Year's Day and Saturdays in the summer.
Disney Imagineers worked closely with local Bahamian designers and locals to bring Junkanoo to life in an accurate and respectful way. You will see inspirations from the Junkanoo experience in the music, architecture and entertainment on Lookout Cay.

Junkanoo Design Elements
Junkanoo had a large influence on the activities and design at Lookout Cay and we could see the elements of these bright colored designs all over the island.
Make Your Own Junkanoo Headpieces
Guests can make their own Junkanoo headpieces, similar to those worn in the street parade, in the Arts and Cultural Pavilion on Lookout Cay.
RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration
The big showstopper of the event is the RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration that is put on by a local Junkanoo group. This street-style parade on Lookout Cay features Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy in their Junkanoo inspired designer clothes. All these outfits are all themed to the idea of “Junkanoo fun in the sun” which match the aesthetic of the island well.
RUSH! A Junkanoo celebration is an energizing demonstration of Bahamian culture with a mix of Disney fun. It was great seeing Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy in their new outfits for Lookout Cay. But the most impressive part is the detail and colors of the Junkanoo costumes worn by the performers.
The music was lively and could be heard as far as the beaches as the performers put on this show inspired by real Junkanoo traditions.
This is easily the best entertainment on the island and is worth taking the time to see. The show takes place in front of Goombay Cultural Center twice a day on Lookout Cay. Keep in mind you may be standing in the sun to watch so make sure to wear sunscreen or bring an umbrella for a shade! This performance was a hit and I'd love to see more entertainment brought to Disney's other island Castaway Cay.
