Disneyland is constantly introducing new items to its menus and making seasonal shifts throughout the year. Some of these receive big announcements, but other changes fly under the radar. Even though these aren’t widely publicized, they are still noteworthy if you are planning a visit soon.
A major change that just affected several restaurants across the parks is what some are calling the “French fry apocalypse.” Keep reading for what changed, plus a breakdown of what Disneyland removed and added to these restaurant menus over the past week. Disneyland French Fry Apocalypse
Last week, the Disneyland Resort experienced what is being called a “French Fry apocalypse.” At several quick service locations across the resort, sides like fries, chips, and tater tots have been removed from the menus.

The “apocalypse” included the crinkle cut fries at Smokejumpers Grill, film strip fries at Award Wieners, tater tots at Red Rose Taverne, steak fries from Flo’s V8 Cafe, and homemade chips from Cafe Daisy. Now, these have been replaced by standard French fries (like the ones served at Galactic Grill) rather than the unique options. This change has been bemoaned by visitors who appreciated the more unique variety of sides across the different restaurants, and it takes away some fan-favorite options. We are seeing comments that this sudden removal of these potato products is due to a recall and may just be temporary, which would make sense.
Disneyland regularly adjusts menus to make updates to food and beverage offerings. Though the above french fries were removed, guests can still find a variety of fries, including house fries, tater tots, beer-battered fries, and sweet potato fries at different locations at Disneyland Resort.
In addition to this recent shift, there were also several other smaller Disneyland restaurant menu changes that took place this past week across the resort. These are how they appear listed on the Disney menus on the website as of the time of publication, but as always, menu items and availability are subject to change.
This all comes in the context of dozens of new foods that were recently released across the parks.
Disney California Adventure Menu Changes
Changes at Disney California Adventure include several removed holiday novelties as we are getting into the post-holiday period at the parks.
The biggest menu additions are coming soon to Flo’s V8 Cafe, starting January 20. The restaurant is basically getting a menu refresh with some new and enhanced offerings. We’re looking forward to trying these, as Flo’s was once a favorite of ours, but was bumped off our best restaurants list due to the underwhelming food quality after a time.
