Downtown Disney Starbucks Closed at Disneyland
The Downtown Disney Starbucks that is located just past the World of Disney store has been closed for the previous two days, Saturday and Sunday, November 8 and November 9. When we were in Downtown Disney today, the location was completely shut down and the sitting area was taped off. Disneyland confirmed the closure to us.

The location has a sign posted in the window stating: “Our location is temporarily closed. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please visit one of our locations inside Disneyland Park or Disney’s California Adventure Park. Thank you!” The sign was shared with us in a photo from DisneyMikeM seen below.

The Downtown Disney Starbucks is operated by Starbucks, while the two Starbucks locations inside the Disneyland Resort theme parks are operated by Disney cast members. The location in Disneyland is on Main Street USA and called the Market House, and the location in Disney California Adventure is at the end of Buena Vista Street and is called the Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe.
Many Disneyland visitors opt to order from the Downtown Disney Starbucks because it offers mobile order pickup through the Starbucks app. The two locations inside the theme parks are not available for mobile order and often have long lines in the mornings.
There was previously also a Starbucks location at the other end of Downtown Disney near the monorail, but that closed in 2021.

This unannounced closure is almost certainly related to the ongoing labor disputes between team members and Starbucks corporate. There was a video posted by Starbucks Workers United this weekend of Starbucks employees picketing outside the Harbor Boulevard entrance to Disneyland.
The caption of the video reads “It would cost the company LESS THAN ONE DAY’S SALES to finish contracts that help us with staffing, take-home pay, protections, and more. Starbucks workers across the country – including baristas at the Downtown Disney location in Anaheim – voted to authorize a strike on November 13th unless the company finalizes contracts and end union-busting… and if we go on strike, we’re asking everyone to NOT BUY STARBUCKS anywhere! Downtown Disney baristas are holding a rally on November 13th.”
Starbucks Workers United identifies the Downtown Disney Starbucks as one of the largest in the country.
According to the Associated Press, Starbucks’ union members have voted to strike at the company’s U.S. stores next week unless it finalizes a contract agreement, the union said Wednesday. The strike would begin on Nov. 13, which is the day Starbucks plans to distribute free, reusable red cups. This Red Cup Day began in 2018 and is one of the busiest days of the year at Starbucks.
Previously, there have been work stoppages throughout certain days at the Downtown Disney location, as reported by SFGate, though it’s unclear if the store has been completely shut down for an entire day before this weekend.

At this point, we have no status on the reopening of Starbucks at Downtown Disney. We’ve reached out to Starbucks for more information on the closure. We have no indication whether the closure will stretch through the November 13th date listed in the Instagram caption of the video or even longer. The two locations run by Disney inside the theme parks are not impacted.
