This Worst Rated Magic Kingdom Restaurant Isn’t as Bad as You Think

One of the worst-rated Magic Kingdom restaurants is located right on Main Street, USA. Many guests, especially frequent visitors, turn their nose up at this restaurant.

Over on Yelp, it’s not much better, with many guests enjoying the ambiance of the restaurant but making quips about how the “food is one meatball away from a theme park cafeteria.” Let’s get into why I think this poorly rated Magic Kingdom restaurant isn’t quite as bad as many think. At Mickey Visit, we bring you the latest Disney news, including the newest popcorn buckets and looks at expansions.

This Magic Kingdom Restaurant Gets a Bad Rap

Tonys Square

Yes, I’m talking about Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom isn’t necessarily known for its top-tier food options, and Tony’s Town Square Restaurant is still considered by many to be the bottom of that list. Many folks criticize the food more than anything, especially since the theming of the restaurant is pretty standard.

Lady and the Tramp statue

The theme of the restaurant is based on Disney’s Lady and the Tramp, which plays in the background of the restaurant lobby. There is also a large fountain showcasing both Lady and the Tramp when you enter. I still remember our first visit to Magic Kingdom and just being excited to eat somewhere paying homage to this Disney classic.

The restaurant is also a favorite spot to sit for a view of Main Street, USA. This is a common hack that frequent guests love to utilize to try and get a view of any of the Magic Kingdom parades as they go by, as Tony’s Town Square Restaurant also has a large porch with seating.

Disney’s Version of Olive Garden?

Breadsticks Tonys Square

One of the most common critiques I hear thrown at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant is that it’s just Disney’s version of Olive Garden. Okay, foodies, I personally love Olive Garden, so what’s wrong with that? The main crime is the higher-than-Olive-Garden pricing for food that is arguably the same in quality and, in some cases, not quite as good. I completely understand that as a critique.

Tony Square restaurant

But for being the worst restaurant out of them all? I don’t think that’s quite fair. Tony’s Town Square Restaurant offers pretty run-of-the-mill Italian food like spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread, fettuccine alfredo, fried mozzarella, and more. All of the food is pretty standard Italian food, and we found it to be perfectly fine on our most recent visit.

Spaghetti and meatballs

Obviously, if you’re looking for better Italian food, you should head to EPCOT! But if you’re looking for a quick and easy-to-get reservation, Tony’s Town Square Restaurant will do just fine. And most kids love spaghetti.

  1. Regarding Tony’s we had dinner there several years back. I had the spaghetti with meatballs. I asked for Italian bread to go with it was told they did not have any . Next problem the sauce was like water. The server told me that is how marinara comes.
