Disney World Just Changed Its Shipping Policy

Walt Disney World just changed its merchandise shipping policy, which went into effect on September 1, 2026. Under the previous system, guests were charged for shipping based on the total value of merchandise they were shipping home. Guests could ship multiple items home, as long as they had all their receipts, and the cost of shipping was based on the value of the merchandise.

Here are the previous shipping rates:

  • Merchandise valued at $0-$100 cost $19.99 to ship
  • Merchandise valued at $100.01-$250 cost $34.99 to ship
  • Merchandise valued at $250.01-$500 cost $74.99 to ship
  • Merchandise valued above $500 cost $99.99 to ship

The cost for international shipping ranged from $30 to $150.

Now Disney World is using Ricoh, a third-party shipping provider, to ship merchandise home. Ricoh bases the cost of shipping based on the size of the package rather than the merchandise value.

Current pricing options for the new service are below:

  • Green, Extra Small: intended for small purchases and trinkets: $19.97
  • Pink, Small: suitable for a few shirts, a small toy, or a popcorn bucket: $29.97
  • Blue, Medium: designed for souvenirs, T-shirts, plushies, or a small suitcase: $44.97
  • Yellow, Large: capable of fitting a small carry-on suitcase and other small items: $49.97
  • Clear: Custom, international, or overweight shipments

Shipments that weigh over 50 pounds are considered overweight and will have a higher price. Shipping rates all include insurance coverage of up to $100 for no additional charge. For higher valued items, the insurance charge increases by $1 to $2 for each additional $100, starting at $5 for the lowest amount. The listed maximum insurance coverage is $5000.

Guests will be instructed to place their items in the appropriately sized bag and then scan a QR code to complete the shipping form and process the payment. Guests will secure the bag with a provided zip-tie tag, return it to the participating location, and hand it to a Cast Member.

Ricoh will send guests a confirmation email with tracking information once the package is processed. Guests are reporting online that they can put whatever they want in the bags and do not need receipts. If this is the case, that would be a huge benefit for guests shipping items home who are worrying about overweight luggage.

Guests can ask any Cast Member in the gift shops about shipping items home, and there is also a dedicated shipping station at Disney Springs in the back of Marketplace Co-Op.

The new shipping costs will likely end up being cheaper for guests shipping large valued items home. On the other hand, guests shipping only a small value of merchandise home might find this new system more expensive.

The new system does appear to be much easier and quicker than before, as in our experience, the forms and processing Cast Members had to complete for previous shipping required quite a few steps.
