Disneyland Bringing Back Free Popular Downtown Disney Halloween Offering

The Halloween season is very popular at the Disneyland Resort, with plenty of limited-time seasonal offerings both big and small. The Downtown Disney District at Disneyland is often home to a rotating schedule of special events throughout the year, and Halloween is no exception. Downtown Disney gets into the Halloween spirit with spooky decor, themed foods at its various restaurants, and special entertainment.

Last year, it debuted a free-of-charge Halloween-themed event that went over very well with guests, and after its success, it will be returning this year as well. Keep reading to get all the information on this returning event, what to expect, and the schedule that Disney just revealed. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including major changes at Disney Springs and how “pixie dusting” is going a bit too far for some guests.

Movie Nights at Downtown Disney will be returning this year during the Halloween season, featuring iconic family-friendly Disney movies. This was a very popular offering when it debuted last year, and Disney is bringing it back in the same format for 2026.

Like last year’s event, each showing will be at the Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage & Lawn. Seating will be first-come, first-served on the lawn in this area. Disney has not yet announced what time these movies will begin, but each showing last year began at 7:00 PM, so we assume these Movie Nights will begin around the same time.

While no titles have been revealed quite yet, last year’s Movie Nights featured Hocus Pocus, Frankenweenie, Halloweentown, Haunted Mansion (2023), Hocus Pocus 2, and Nightmare Before Christmas. We can expect this year’s lineup to be similar, or possibly the same.

No park admission is required to attend these Movie Nights, so they are free for anybody to attend. This makes it a good way to start your trip if the dates line up, since you do not need to purchase park tickets, and it is a relatively relaxing activity to enjoy. It is also a great break from the hustle and bustle of going to the parks.

For Halloween, Disneyland also hosts the popular Oogie Boogie Bash, which will be happening at Disney California Adventure on some of the same dates as Movie Nights. Ticket prices and on-sale dates were just released, so if you are looking for more Halloween fun during your trip, be sure to check that out.

If you are looking for a stress-free event to take part in, don’t miss out on these free Halloween Movie Nights at Downtown Disney.

About Taylor Veneto

Taylor recently graduated from Binghamton University with a B.A. in English Literature and Creative Writing. She will be pursuing her MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College beginning this fall. Her primary writing expertise centers around writing fiction, both novel-length manuscripts and short stories, but she also has experience with blog writing, technical writing, and now journalism. As a lifelong East Coast resident, she knows Disney World the best, as she and her family have been going for over ten years. Because of this, she has firsthand experience about what makes a successful Disney World vacation, and can provide specific insight on how changes and closures can impact the affected park. Her two favorite rides are Tower of Terror and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (the best song to get is “September,” with “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” as a close second). She will forever miss Test Track 2.0.
