The event features rare villains and Disney characters dressed up for Halloween throughout the park, including immersive trick-or-treat trails. This is the one event at Disneyland that allows adults to wear costumes to the park, so everyone can partake in the Halloween experience.
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail will also transform into an enchanted walk-through experience inspired by Disney villains like the Queen of Hearts, Dr. Facilier, Scar, and the Cheshire Cat. Oogie Boogie Bash also features a lineup of event-exclusive treats and snacks, along with unlimited candy at trick-or-treating spots.
The entertainment is a big feature of the party, and this year Disneyland is making a major change to the lineup.

The popular “Frightfully Fun Parade” is being replaced this year with a new Haunted Mansion-themed cavalcade experience. “Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party” will feature “show-stopping moments” for Madame Leota to host her spirited séance. The street party will feature a “swinging wake filled with happy haunts, ghostly dancing, and ghoulish delight.” The concept art, pictured above, showcases two parade floats featuring iconic figures from the classic Haunted Mansion attraction.
The Headless Horseman will still be a part of Oogie Boogie Bash and will appear “select times throughout the evening” as Ichabod Crane hurries through the park to evade the iconic specter. Typically, the Headless Horseman led the Oogie Boogie Bash parade through Disney California Adventure, making a dramatic entrance before the entertainment offering began. So, despite the parade not returning, the Headless Horseman will still be a part of the experience.

The “Frightfully Fun Parade” is not listed on the official Disneyland website under Oogie Boogie Bash, nor was it listed in the official Disney Parks Blog announcement. We assume that it is not being shown due to the ongoing construction tied to the new Coco–themed boat style attraction coming to Disney California Adventure. The new Coco ride will be located behind Pixar Pier and Incredicoaster, in an area previously occupied by backstage space.
This backstage space is often an area used for parade staging, so this could be the reason why the “Frightfully Fun Parade” is not returning this year. Disney has not announced an opening timeframe for the new Coco attraction yet, but the “Frightfully Fun Parade” could return to future Oogie Boogie Bash parties once construction is complete.
“Paint the Night,” the popular nighttime parade that debuted as part of the Disneyland 70th anniversary celebration, will be extended past the end date of the celebration on August 9. Both “Paint the Night” and the “Wondrous Journeys” fireworks will run through August 20, which is now lined up with the D23 Expo taking place at the Anaheim Convention Center on August 14, 15, and 16.
The new Haunted Mansion street party taking place at Oogie Boogie Bash won’t require as many performers as the “Frightfully Fun Parade” does, so this is likely the reason they can extend “Paint the Night” for the week of the D23 Expo.

The Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party will still be available for viewing of the “Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party” featuring a new selection of treats themed to Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. Reservations will open later this summer for the experience.
