Disneyland Resort‘s outdoor vending (ODV) locations, often simply referred to as snack carts, sell some of Disney’s most sought-after treats, like Mickey Mouse-shaped ice cream and, of course, the parks’ popular popcorn buckets and boxes. Now, they have made a change to the outdoor vending locations following other recent tests.

Disneyland Rolls Out Cashless Payment For Locations
We have spotted signs popping up in the past couple of weeks at outdoor vending locations that read: “CASHLESS LOCATION | Please pay with credit card, Disney gift card, or mobile payment. Disney gift cards are available at your nearest merchandise store.” We reached out to Disney to get the full story.

Disneyland officials confirmed to Mickey Visit that over 25% of Disneyland Resort’s ODV locations are now cashless. Each cashless location displays clear signage that it accepts electronic payment only.
They also shared that currently all outdoor vending carts that sell churros, pretzels, fresh popcorn, and fruit will continue to take cash. The carts that we spotted using the cashless payments only appeared to be the ones offering pre-packaged snacks including popcorn, frozen treats, ice cream, and beverages.

Disney says this is a test for now and that the procedure began in late April. Park leadership continually tests and adjusts the resort’s protocols and procedures based on guest behavior, and this cashless test is an example of that.
Walt Disney World has already made a similar change at their outdoor vending locations across the theme parks where select locations went cashless in October 2025.
Other recent shifts in Disneyland policies include a change to park entry technology, the phasing out of MagicBands, and new rules for thrill rides.
Over the past several years, SeaWorld parks and Six Flags parks nationwide have gone completely cashless. This also now includes the former Cedar Fair theme parks, like Knott’s Berry Farm. This week, Disneyland introduced a major change as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge expanded its timeline to include characters from the original Star Wars trilogy, like Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker.
Bluey’s Best Day Ever! recently debuted in Fantasyland Theatre and has proven extremely popular for families with young kids. As part of that debut, they tested a change to mobile order to limit resellers of the popular novelty items.
Disneyland also continues to celebrate its 70th anniversary through August 9, 2026. Then, the Halloween season starts that month.
