To aid in optimizing your visit to the Happiest Place on Earth, we've meticulously curated a guide that breaks down five shows to skip and five must-see shows for you. For shows to skip, we will take into account factors such as time management, engagement vs. monotony, and outdated content to help you make the best choices for your personal vacation.

Plus, we will include the best Disney World shows you can't miss that feature masterful storytelling, awe-inspiring special effects, and captivating performances!

Shows to Skip—The Hall of Presidents (Magic Kingdom)

A treasured relic from Disney's past, the Hall of Presidents offers a nostalgic, patriotic trip for the sentimentalist. However, it might not resonate with younger audiences. The animatronics of every U.S. President, while once groundbreaking, could come off as somewhat dated. If you're looking for a more modern and engaging experience, this classic might not be your cup of tea.

In addition to its potential lack of appeal for certain audiences, the Hall of Presidents might not be the best use of time for those with limited hours at the park. Given its 25-minute duration and relatively subdued nature (considering most of the show is a video presentation), visitors may opt to experience more dynamic shows throughout Magic Kingdom.

However, it is a wonderfully air-conditioned, cushioned spot for a much-needed rest. Feel free to relax here if your family needs respite from the craziness of the day!

Shows to Skip—Finding Nemo – The Big Blue…and Beyond! (Animal Kingdom)

Despite its ambitious attempt to recreate the enchanting underwater world of Nemo and his friends on stage, Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…And Beyond at Disney's Animal Kingdom may not captivate all audiences. The show, spanning a lengthy 25 minutes, aims to bring beloved characters to life through a musical performance, but the prolonged duration might test the attention spans of both children and adults.

While the puppetry talent showcased in the production is commendable, the overall execution of the ventriloquist style might not fully resonate with everyone. Although the puppets are skillfully crafted and manipulated, the show's reliance on puppetry and its slower tempo may struggle to maintain the interest of guests accustomed to more dynamic and visually stimulating entertainment options.

Additionally, while the production attempts to transport audiences into the whimsical underwater world of Finding Nemo, some visitors may find the stage adaptation lacking the immersive qualities or grandeur they expect from Disney shows.

Shows to Skip—The American Adventure (EPCOT)

Similarly to The Hall of Presidents, The American Adventure is a seated, audio-animatronic stage show of the retelling of America’s history by Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain. As a history buff, I personally enjoy experiencing the pivotal moments in history, from the Mayflower landing and the Boston Tea Party to the harsh winter at Valley Forge, the drafting of the Declaration of Independence, and more.

However, if American history doesn't pique your interest, then your precious vacation time is better vested elsewhere. In my personal opinion, both shows have the common denominator of giving an informative, yet lackluster and monotonous experience not worth the half hour out of your busy day.

Shows to Skip—The Voices of Liberty (EPCOT)

While The Voices of Liberty at EPCOT showcases the stirring harmonies of beloved national anthems within its 15-minute performance, it might not emerge as a top priority for guests amidst the diverse array of attractions and festivities available at the park.

Post-COVID, the show underwent changes that have affected its overall appeal. One notable alteration that was saddening was the removal of the old colonial costumes worn by the performers. This modern makeover, while perhaps intended to refresh the show, has inadvertently diminished some of its uniqueness that once set the performance apart at Walt Disney World.

However, for many guests, The Voices of Liberty might still be worth seeing to appreciate the incredible vocal talents of the performers, and the design of the space makes the sound travel beautifully.

Shows to Skip—It's Tough to Be a Bug! (Animal Kingdom)

Located within the Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom, It's Tough to Be a Bug! is a 3D show that simulates the insect world. While the intention is to educate on how bugs survive in the wild, the simulated effects can be intense, making it potentially unsettling for younger visitors.

The creepy-crawly atmosphere might not appeal to everyone, especially when the bugs scurry under your seat at the end of the show. These jarring effects make this show one that you could skip without missing out on too much. See some more of the scariest Disney World attractions you may need to skip in our guide!

Now that we have discussed some shows that you can skip to make the most of your time at Disney World, see the ones you absolutely must watch!

The projections that adorn Cinderella Castle during the Happily Ever After show are nothing short of spectacular. You may even spot your favorite fairy taking flight along the way! Shows You Can't MissBeauty and the Beast – Live on Stage (Hollywood Studios)

Step into the mesmerizing world of Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage, an enthralling Broadway-style production located on Sunset Boulevard at Disney's Hollywood Studios. This captivating performance reimagines the timeless tale of Belle and the Beast falling in love.

The show takes the audience on a captivating journey through various acts, each highlighting pivotal moments from the beloved story. The opening act introduces the song “Belle,” with the protagonist herself taking center stage. And for those who fawn over the egotistical antagonist, Gaston indeed flexes his way through his self-titled song with a myriad of humorous moments. As the story progresses, the audience witnesses the pivotal moment when Belle sacrifices her freedom to save her father and becomes a captive in the Beast's castle.

One of the standout acts features the enchanted household objects, such as Lumière, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, and Chip singing “Be Our Guest.” The scene includes Rockette-style dancing cutlery, who bring life, humor, and fabulous costumes to the stage. The spirited performances of these lively characters, coupled with their dazzling choreography, add an extra layer of magic to the production.

Step into the realm of imagination with Fantasmic! at Hollywood Studios. This breathtaking 29-minute extravaganza combines water projections, live-action sequences, and a grand procession of beloved Disney characters in an epic clash between the forces of good and evil. As darkness falls, the show's stage transforms into a canvas for vivid projections that transport the audience into a realm of fantasy.

The show unfolds with Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerer's Apprentice, guiding audiences through a journey that pits the forces of light against darkness. Spectators are immersed in a whirlwind of iconic scenes and characters from classic Disney tales, brought to life through stunning visual effects and choreography. From the chilling emergence of Maleficent as a towering dragon to the heroic appearances of Disney princesses and beloved heroes, each act is a spectacle in itself that is worth every minute. Shows You Can't MissIndiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! (Hollywood Studios)

Ready, set, action! Be prepared to embark on a thrilling journey filled with heart-pounding stunts, dazzling acrobatics, and high excitement at the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! in Disney's Hollywood Studios. This beloved show catapults Indy and Marion into the limelight, bringing to life the adrenaline-pumping moments from the legendary film Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark amidst elaborate scenery and explosive entertainment!

The spectacle kicks off with Indy's iconic pursuit of the Golden Idol, recreating the intense scenes where he navigates through booby traps while dodging the famous gigantic boulder. Watch in awe as the stage comes alive with death-defying leaps, exploding vehicles, and thrilling combat sequences, transporting audiences into the heart of the action.

As the adventure unfolds, guests are treated to an immersive experience that goes beyond the typical show. The behind-the-scenes magic is unveiled as the camera crew reveals the intricate process of capturing movie-making wizardry. Witness how the crew orchestrates stunning practical effects, choreographs intricate fight sequences, and executes jaw-dropping stunts that bring the beloved Indiana Jones saga to life right before your eyes. While I personally miss the pre-COVID perk of having selected audience members ages 18 and up be able to join the show, Disney still does a great job of including the audience in the magic, keeping this a must-do show at Disney!

In the vast tapestry of Disney World entertainment, the shows contribute significantly to the overall magic. By strategically choosing which shows to prioritize, you can enhance your visit and create lasting memories. While some shows might not live up to the high standards set by Disney, the must-see performances are guaranteed to leave you spellbound. So, plan your itinerary wisely, and let the Disney magic come to life before your eyes.
