Name Revealed for New Universal Studios Texas Park

Universal Texas park new details

Universal Destinations & Experiences announced that the new family-friendly park in Texas will be called “Universal Kids Resort.”

The park will feature immersive themed lands along with beloved characters and stories, “family-friendly attractions, interactive and playful shows, unique merchandise, fun food and beverage venues and character meet and greets.” Universal Kids Resort will feature lush green landscapes, with the look and scale of the park designed for kids.

“Universal Kids Resort will inspire the unbridled creativity of kids through imagination, discovery and most importantly – play,” Molly Murphy, the President of Universal Creative, shared. “We’re designing the resort so kids and families can feel the thrill of being physically immersed in their most beloved stories and characters.”

Progress on the concept is underway following a groundbreaking last November, and the theme park will create thousands of jobs, including more than 2,500 new construction jobs.

Universal also shared new concept art, including an overview of the park with a vibrant, captivating color scheme that you can see above. The overview alone gives a very strong impression of the fun, visually engaging atmosphere of the park that will appeal to kids.

While the specific lands have not yet been announced, we can guess what some of them might be from the details. You can see Alicia Stella's post on X (formerly Twitter) below that speculates what the theming might be for the various areas of the park, including areas inspired by Shrek and Puss in Boots, Jurrasic World: Camp Cretaceous, Minions, SpongeBob Squarepants, Gabby's Dollhouse, and Trolls.

It definitely seems likely that the land on the far right side of the park will be SpongeBob Squarepants-themed due to details like what appears to be the Krusty Krab (seen below on the left):

You can see Theme Park Shark's post about the rumored SpongeBob part of the land with Dimension Parcs in the thread pointing out some areas of the concept art that seem to be referencing the Krusty Krab, SpongeBob's pineapple house, and more.

More details will be shared about Universal Kids Resort in the future! With the Universal Texas theme park progress underway, you can see our speculation on whether a Disney park may be coming to Texas in the future.
