New Universal Orlando Roller Coaster Just Announced, Other Ride Closing

Universal Orlando has announced a brand new roller coaster coming to Universal Studios Florida and another attraction that will close permanently once this ride opens.

This is great news for Universal Orlando fans, as it is clear Universal is still dedicated to continuing to improve their other parks even though their new theme park, Epic Universe, has been popular with visitors. At Mickey Visit, we report on all the recent Disney news, like the major changes coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and the most recent disability access pass controversy at Disney.

New Fast & Furious Roller Coaster Coming to Universal Studios Florida

Rip Ride Rockit

Universal Orlando has announced that the roller coaster replacing the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit will be Fast & Furious themed. Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will open in 2027 at Universal Studios Florida. This roller coaster will feature “360-degree drifting” as guests speed through different “jaw-dropping maneuvers,” which will also include a 170-foot vertical “spike” that will send riders “nearly 17 stories in the air over the outskirts of Universal CityWalk.”

Universal Orlando teased this announcement over the weekend with social media posts showing odometers clearly hinting at a Fast & Furious experience. This is a great replacement for Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, and there is plenty of space in this area of Universal Studios Florida to build this new experience.

Other Fast & Furious Experience Closing

Fast & Furious- Supercharged will permanently close in 2027 to make way for the new experience. This makes sense to not have two different Fast & Furious experiences, especially since this new roller coaster will easily outshine the more outdated Fast & Furious- Supercharged.

Universal Studios Hollywood Also Opening Fast & Furious Roller Coaster

Universal Studios Hollywood will also soon open its own version of the Fast & Furious Hollywood Drift roller coaster later this year. It will feature the same “360-degree drifting” and intense thrills as Universal Orlando. The twist for Universal Studios Hollywood is that their roller coaster is making creative use of the lack of space at this theme park and building the coaster directly over the escalators that go down to the Lower Lot.
