Universal Announces Dining Changes With New Dining Plan

Universal has introduced a major change to how dining works at the theme park with the debut of a brand new dining plan. This new offering is designed to simplify meal planning and give guests a more structured way to budget for food in advance, rather than making decisions on the fly throughout the day.

With dining costs continuing to be a key part of any theme park vacation, this update gives visitors a clearer path to managing both time and expenses. Mickey Visit brings you the latest theme park news and planning resources, including an unexpected closure of a Disneyland restaurant and availability changes for a popular Disney character dining experience.

New Dining Pass Available at Universal Studios Hollywood

Simpsons land

Universal Studios Hollywood has revealed a new Dining Pass for guests, giving them an easy way to enjoy meals and snacks at a set price during their time in the park. This pass will be available to purchase on the official Universal Studios Hollywood website or in person starting from $64.75 per person. It is only valid on the selected visit dates during regular park hours and will be activated upon first use. The Dining Pass cannot be used during special after-hours events, such as Halloween Horror Nights or Universal Fan Fest Nights.

After purchasing their Dining Pass, guests can add it to their Universal Studios Hollywood app by going to the My Wallet section and scanning the QR code on the pass. This allows for easy access when you reach your dining destination. This Dining Pass will only be valid at Universal Studios Hollywood, not any of the other Universal theme parks.

In the past, Universal Studios Hollywood has done temporary or event-based dining passes, and even years prior, a type of “all-you-can-eat” wristband-style pass. This is different than Universal Orlando, which has consistently offered dining plans. Now Universal Studios Hollywood appears to be joining that model.

Universal Studios Hollywood Dining Pass Key Details

Each Dining Pass includes two eligible entrée items and four eligible snack, side, dessert, or beverage items. If these items are not redeemed on the day that the pass is valid, then the offer will expire. Eligible food items are marked with a Universal Studios Dining Pass logo on the menu.

There are some exclusions to what is included in the Dining Pass. Any food items priced $25 or higher and alcoholic beverages are not eligible for Dining Pass use. Purchases at Starbucks, Coca-Cola Freestyle, and retail stores are excluded. It also cannot be used for merchandise, souvenirs, collectibles, special events and promotions, candies, and Universal CityWalk Hollywood.

The wide selection of food items that fall under this new Dining Pass has been curated by Executive Chef Julia Thrash. She has said that she and her team take “enormous pride in preparing an eclectic menu for our guests and want our food offerings to be as exciting as the rides and attractions, which for many is also a highlight of the day.”

This Dining Pass is sure to aid guests in experiencing that menu in a fast, convenient way. With its single price for the six options (two entrées and four snacks), it can help to alleviate some of the financial stress in terms of buying individual food items at different prices.
