Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland is currently closed for a refurbishment that began a couple of weeks ago. This is one of the most popular rides at the resort and the park’s only Lightning Lane Single Pass offering.
Disney just recently shared more details about the after-hours Star Wars Nite parties on its website, which gives us an indication of when we can expect the ride to open at the latest, but we reached out to Disney and confirmed that the ride is expected to reopen sooner. Keep reading for all details and everything we know so far about the reopening of this popular ride! At Mickey Visit, we report on all the latest Disney news, like our review of Disneyland’s fanciest restaurant reopening, and a Space Mountain ride closure added to the refurbishment calendar.

Rise of the Resistance Closure Details Confirmed
Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland has been closed for refurbishment since January 20, 2026, without an opening date listed. When Disneyland released the Star Wars Nites information, they included Rise of the Resistance as one of the rides in that offering.

That would mean that at the latest Rise of the Resistance will be open again by April 28, 2026. However, we have heard that the closure is only expected to last a few weeks. Today, Disneyland confirmed that information.
So, we expect to see a reopening date for Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland at some in February or March at the latest based on the current timeline of “a few weeks” we had confirmed by Disneyland. That could of course change. We expect that they want to wait until they are very confident that the ride is ready to be reopened before sharing a date to prevent disappointment if that timeline has to shift.
We know that the ride will definitely be open by Star Wars Nite, given that it’s listed as one of the available Star Wars-themed rides on the event page, though based on Disney’s confirmation, we expect it to be back up and running even sooner.
Disneyland recently shared more details about Star Wars Nite as part of a larger announcement of other Disneyland After Dark news and updated the event page.
There are fewer Star Wars Nite parties in 2026 than in previous years, and the entertainment and offerings aren’t changing drastically from last year. Some highlights include a Lightsaber Instructional, an appearance from Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes (Cantina Band), a cosplay showcase, and several rare characters like Palpatine, Queen Amidala, C-3PO, Hera and Chopper, Jawas, and Ewoks.
Because the entertainment for this event is more limited than for other Disneyland After Dark events, it’s a good opportunity to enjoy some rides with shorter wait times. See our review of Star Wars Nite from last year and whether it was worth it.
On the same date as the first Star Wars Nite, some major changes will be coming to Galaxy’s Edge. Parts of the land will undergo a shift in timeline to bring in characters from the original trilogy, store and merchandise updates, and changes to certain dining experiences.
Darth Vader and classic stormtroopers will come to Black Spire Outpost, and Luke, Leia, and Han Solo will make appearances in the village area, while the area surrounding Rise of the Resistance will be dedicated to the Age of the Resistance and the First Order from the sequel trilogy.

When announcing these changes, Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm creative executives confirmed that the Rise of the Resistance refurbishment is routine and not related to these changes.
Oga’s Cantina is also currently closed for refurbishment, and a reopening date was just announced. Though we know that the timeline shift will affect the storyline of the bar, Disney has not clarified whether any changes will be implemented during the closure.
