Most Disney fans dream of the iconic photo moment in front of Cinderella Castle, and this is a must-do for every trip. Well, one family decided to bring along a rather unexpected photo subject: their porch goose.
The porch-goose trend has taken off again in recent years, with many people buying goose statues for their porches and dressing them in a variety of outfits. This particular porch goose made its way to Disney World, and this content creator described how they brought it to the parks. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including Disney World confirming new rides’ opening timelines for 2027 and a new perk for Disney World annual passholders.

“Lucy Goosey” Goes to Magic Kingdom

Liz, also known as lizandagoose on Instagram, went viral this week for taking her porch goose, named “Lucy Goosey,” to Magic Kingdom for a PhotoPass photo in front of Cinderella Castle. Lucy Goosey was dressed in a Princess outfit and wore a wig with pigtail braids that were very similar to Anna from Frozen.
In the now viral video posted on Instagram and TikTok, she documented the process, which began with her husband calling Walt Disney World’s customer service to ask if the goose would be allowed through security. The cast member he spoke to was initially confused before breaking into laughter, saying, “I’ve never had anybody ask me this before!” The cast member gave them the okay, and from there the couple then shared their experience of taking Lucy Goosey through security.

Her husband described the process of taking Lucy Goosey through security as a “whole ordeal,” mostly it seems because Cast Members were so amused by their dedication to bring a porch goose to Disney World. According to her husband, one shared that he had been working at Disney World for 15 years and had “never seen anyone do this.”
However, Disney security did have some rules the couple had to follow, and Lucy Goosey was to be kept in a locker when they were finished with their photos. She would not be allowed to go on rides, for instance, or be carried freely around the park.

Liz shared in the comments that a porch goose can make it “through Disney security BUT is required to stay at the locker” and further elaborated in another comment that “they don’t allow them to roam the parks and she had to stay in the lockers.”
But since Lucy Goosey did not fit in the lockers, the porch goose had to actually be stored by cast members, in the same storage area that guests can often leave balloons or other unusually shaped items by the stroller rental. A clip from the video shows giggling cast members bringing out “Lucy Goosey” so she could go have her photo shoot.

Liz then posted the resulting photos, including clips of the PhotoPass photographer laughing as he took photos of the now famous goose in front of Cinderella Castle.
What I personally found interesting about the video, aside from the obvious hilarity of someone bringing a porch goose to Disney World, are the interesting security rules they had to follow. It’s likely security was worried about the goose going on rides as a risk factor, especially if it fell off a ride vehicle or caused a safety issue, so they required it to be stored in the lockers after the photos.
It usually just takes one instance to create a new “Disney guideline” on the Frequently Asked Questions page, so we will have to see if this now-viral porch goose helped create a new security disclaimer.
