Typhoon Lagoon

Typhoon Lagoon’s theme is based on an “old Disney legend.” As the story goes, a tremendous storm came through and trashed a previously impeccable tropical paradise. You’ll find items like nets and surfboards strewn about and even see a ship that crashed right on top of a volcano. This is Walt Disney World’s first water park and it opened on June 1, 1989.

Blizzard Beach’s theme is based on a similar Disney story when a snowstorm hit Florida and transformed the beaches into a snowy paradise. Guests will feel like they’re at a ski resort with snow and ice all around and a play zone even themed to the Disney film Frozen. Blizzard Beach opened after Typhoon Lagoon on April 1, 1995.

Disney Water Park Attractions
The main three attractions at the Walt Disney World water parks can be summed up in these categories: slides, raft rides, and a lazy river. There are also areas at both water parks aimed at younger children like water playgrounds, toddler slides, and splash pads.
Typhoon Lagoon also has a wave pool which sets it apart from Blizzard Beach.
Disney Water Park Dining
Both water parks have a variety of dining options and locations that offer American classics like burgers, fries, chicken tenders, ice cream, and other desserts. There is also a bar at each water park offering adult beverages like margaritas, beers, and frozen alcoholic beverages.
Water Park Rentals
Both water parks offer reserved umbrellas with loungers and private patio decks at an additional cost ranging from $99 to $375. This is a way to reserve seating at the water parks which can get busy in the summer months.
Locker rentals range from $10-15 per day and towel rentals are also available for $2 per towel. Lifejackets are available to use at no additional cost.
