Disneyland is in the midst of its 70th anniversary celebration right now, and for its actual anniversary date tomorrow, there will be a special moment that will take place at the resort. This is happening on the same day that a few new anniversary additions debut, including the opening of the first-ever Walt Disney animatronic to the public and a new verse added to “its a small world.”

Iger Rings in NYSE Opening Bell From Disneyland
Tomorrow morning on July 17, there will be a live broadcast of Disney CEO Bob Iger ringing the NYSE Opening Bell from Disneyland, joined by Lynn Martin, President of NYSE Group. There are different opening bell ringings every business day Monday through Friday at 9:30 AM ET. Since this ringing is happening in time for the East Coast opening of the exchange, the actual bell ringing will take place at 6:30 am PT, before the theme park opens to guests.

The tradition of the NYSE Bell, signaling the opening or closing of the day's trading, is a tradition dating back to the late 1800s. This was originally a gavel, then a gong, and eventually the brass bell that is used today. Companies and organizations are invited to ring the bell to celebrate key milestones, such as listing as a public company in an IPO, a corporate milestone like this one for Disneyland's 70th anniversary, or to bring awareness to specific causes.
Disney has been listed on the New York Stock Exchange since November 12, 1957. This is the first time in history that the bell has been rung at Disneyland. It is extremely rare for the bell to be rung anywhere besides New York City at the Stock Exchange. Typically, when the bell has been rung in other parts of the world, it has been for major public milestones or during the COVID pandemic, when some were conducted virtually.

Disney CEO Bob Iger and the President of NYSE Group will both be present at the park for the bell ringing. There hasn't been any announcement about whether Iger will be present during a period when guests are in the theme parks.
There have been times when executives have greeted guests. Previously, during the Disneyland reopening after the pandemic-era closure, both Disney Chairman Bob Iger and Disney CEO Bob Chapek, as well as other executives, were greeting the first guests into the park at the end of Main Street.
