7. Matterhorn Bobsleds (27 mph)- Disneyland
A Disneyland original, Matterhorn Bobsleds has served as a Disneyland favorite since 1959, just 4 years after the park’s opening. Recognized as the world’s first known tubular steel track roller coaster, Matterhorn Bobsleds has paved the way for modern roller coaster engineering and operation.
The ride’s theming is based on the Matterhorn range of the Alps of Switzerland, and the ride’s physical structure uses forced perception as the engineering depicts a mountain range larger and taller than its actual height of 79 feet. The coaster uses a two-track system with one track being identified as the Tomorrowland Track and the other being identified as the Fantasyland Track. The race is randomized, meaning that the winner of the race will be declared at random.
