Since then, the location has been completely shut down all of this week, with a sign in the window saying, “Our location is temporarily closed. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please visit one of our locations inside Disneyland Park or Disney’s California Adventure Park. Thank you!”

Now, we have news that the Starbucks in Downtown Disney is planned to reopen on Friday morning, November 14. This is the same date that the Christmas celebration kicks off at Disneyland. The Starbucks website lists the location closed through today, but lists it as reopening tomorrow and as open for the days following. The hours are still shorter than normal.

Jeremiah Pettus, who has been a barista at the Downtown Disney Starbucks location for two years, explained the reasoning for the strike in a statement: “We walked out on an unfair labor practice strike to protest unlawful union busting by Starbucks. We’re striking to fight back, to end the union busting and settle a fair contract that actually supports baristas. Starbucks knows where we stand. They know our demands. The ball is in their court.”

When sharing news of the location’s reopening, the company said in a statement to KTLA that its “commitment to bargaining with Workers United and reaching agreements has not changed. The fact is that Workers United chose to walk away from the negotiations, not Starbucks.”

The two locations inside the parks operated by Disney Cast Members, called Market House in Disneyland Park and Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe in Disney California Adventure, are still open. The Downtown Disney location is operated by Starbucks directly.

Starbucks shared the reopening information for this location with KTLA today.
