Disneyland Park’s Most Iconic Restaurant Closing For Refurbishment

The refurbishment list at Disneyland is a constantly evolving one. Every once in a while, there is a closure announced for a particularly popular experience in the park, which impacts guests who are hoping to book these high-demand offerings.

While not seen as often as a ride closure, restaurants are also subject to refurbishment, and one of Disneyland’s most iconic restaurants will be closing for refurbishment. At Mickey Visit, we cover the latest Disney news, like Disneyland’s spring menu refresh and a very early closure for Magic Kingdom.

Blue Bayou Restaurant Closing for Refurbishment

The fan-favorite and beloved restaurant Blue Bayou Restaurant will be closing on May 4, with no exact reopening date released, but tentatively expected to be back in operation by the end of May. On the official website, Disneyland simply wrote this for a refurbishment message:

“Blue Bayou Restaurant will temporarily close for refurbishment on May 4, 2026, and is tentatively scheduled to reopen in late May.”

This closure is sure to be especially upsetting to park fans, as it is one of the most iconic dining experiences on the property, and a top choice here at Mickey Visit. The restaurant sits inside of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, so close that ride boats will float by and you can wave to the people on board. The immersive atmosphere is truly one of a kind, and a very popular location to enjoy Southern dishes since its opening in 1967.

Blue Bayou Closure Could Be Tied to Pirates of the Caribbean

There is no specific reasoning behind Blue Bayou Restaurant’s closing, but it could be connected to the expected refurbishment of Pirates of the Caribbean, since the two are so physically interlinked. A few weeks ago, Disneyland submitted multiple permits for a few different show scenes in the ride, as well as more overarching technical upgrades for the ride. The permit is currently listed as “Plan Review,” meaning it has been submitted but is not yet finalized.

While there has been no closure date announced for Pirates of the Caribbean, one can theorize that it may coincide with Blue Bayou Restaurant’s closing. It is possible that the ride could be closed as soon as April 28, the first night of Star Wars Nite, a Disneyland After Dark offering. On the official website, Pirates of the Caribbean was listed as an attraction that might not be available for Star Wars Nite which indicates this refurbishment might overlap with this event.

But remember, Disneyland has not added Pirates of the Caribbean to its refurbishment calendar quite yet so this is all speculation until a closure is confirmed. As for the Blue Bayou, make sure to get your reservation prior to May 4 if you are planning a Disneyland spring trip.
