Few Original Downtown Disney Restaurants Remain
Only two original Downtown Disney District table-service restaurants have remained open, making this milestone even more significant. Since the District’s 2001 opening, many dining locations have come and gone with rebrands and renovations. Naples Ristorante e Bar, one of the two, is known for its Italian fare. They serve thin-crust, wood-fired pizza, along with house-made pasta dishes. Although the restaurant did undergo renovation in 2018 and 2019 to keep up with the District’s modernization, it has remained a popular location for Disney guests.
The other surviving table-service location, Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio, offers New Orleans-style cuisine with a seafood specialty. The restaurant adopted the “Coastal Grill” aesthetic in its modernization, where it made the change from its original name, Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen. Although the transformation saw a retirement of the original “New Orleans Square” theming, guests can still experience live jazz music and “Cajun-Creole” inspired dishes.
Three quick-service dining options have also remained since their 2001 opening at the District, including Napolini Pizzeria, the quick-service pizza and salad window at Naples Ristorante e Bar. Two chains, Wetzel’s Pretzels and Jamba, formerly known as Jamba Juice, have also survived.
