Disneyland Fixes Long-Broken Ride Effect

Indiana Jones Adventure sign

Disneyland has finally restored the falling bridge effect on Indiana Jones Adventure that has been missing for several years. At the bridge scene, riders are stopped momentarily on the bridge, which feels like it is starting to collapse under them.

The effect is created by the vehicle’s internal hydraulics and the side ropes of the bridge dropping to create the feeling that the bridge is about to give way, but this hasn’t been active in a long time. As of January 26, 2026, the ropes move, and the effect is operational again.

Disneyland’s 30-year-old Indiana Jones ride closes often for maintenance. It closed for a long refurbishment period in 2023 that introduced a new scene and some smaller enhancements, but many broken effects haven’t been touched during maintenance periods.

You can see this video from WDW News Today showing the restored effect. Go to the 2:00 minute mark to see the change.

This is one of our favorite rides, and we’re excited to see that a new storyline is coming to Disney World soon as part of the new Tropical Americas land. Check out our article covering the new Indiana Jones ride coming to the former Dinoland area of Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom.

Disney Uses Off-Season for Ride Maintenance

cannon scene star wars rise of the resistance

Another long-time inactive ride effect was fixed around this time last year. In the iconic cannon room scene of the Rise of the Resistance ride, a feature that really creates the scene’s effectiveness for guests was restored after being broken for much of the ride’s operation since 2020.

When the ride vehicles enter the cannon room, a battle has commenced. Riders are maneuvered around the cannons as they shoot out into space. The effect involves the cannons moving front to back as they shoot, creating a realistic movement as the droids dodge the cannons’ movements.

This effect has only been repaired at Disneyland. No refurbishments to the Walt Disney World scene have been completed or announced yet.

Right now, this ride is closed at Disneyland along with several others undergoing refurbishment. You can check out all of the current and upcoming Disneyland ride closures in our guide here.
