Eight Classic Rides in Magic Kingdom That You Can’t Miss!

The Magic Kingdom is Walt Disney World Resort’s flagship park. This popular park has a lot of great attractions to offer, including some very fun rides. Guests can find rides with small drops, big drops, and thrill rides as well as water rides.  Here are our favorite eight not to miss Disney World rides in the Magic Kingdom that you must make time for in your plans!

1. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Heigh-Ho! Everyone is talking about the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train!  This attraction is in Fanstasyland and allows guests to race through a diamond mine that features the beloved Snow White and her Seven Dwarfs.  Guests will board a rustic mine train and wind through the Enchanted Forest and up a mountain.  The mine train then races down the mountain, past a waterfall, and see the cozy cottage where Snow White and her Dwarfs live. Guests must be 38in (97cm) or taller to enjoy this attraction. This attraction is considered a thrill ride with small drops. FastPass+ is offered for this attraction.

2. Peter Pans’ Flight

You Can Fly! Peter Pan's Flight in Fantasyland takes guests on a high-flying adventure aboard a colorful galleon. Guests will journey past Wendy Darling, her brothers Michael and John, and of course, Peter Pan as they visit Big Ben, Tower Bridge, and Never Land. The visit through Never Land includes famous scenes from the movie such as the Lost Boys and Mermaid Lagoon, Skull Rock, and Pirate's Cove. Guests can also watch a swashbuckling duel between Peter Pan and the evil Captain Hook! Guests of any age or height can enjoy this ride as this attraction is considered a slow ride with small drops. FastPass+ is offered.

3. Space Mountain

Come journey through the cosmos! Space Mountain is in Tomorrowland and features a rip-roaring rocket through the darkest reaches of outer space.  Guests will navigate through a neon-lit space station to a Control Tower with a futuristic launch pad.  Guests will then board a sleek rocket-shaped vehicle and zoom through the galaxy in this roller-coaster-type ride.  The rockets ascend a 180-foot high mountain and then launches into the remote blackness of the dark universe.  The rockets fly past shooting stars and celestial satellites while Starry-O-Phonic Sounds echo. This attraction is a dark, thrill ride and features big drops. Guests must be 44in (112cm) or taller to ride Space Mountain. FastPass+ is offered for this attraction. Space Mountain is a classic which is why it made our list of not to miss Disney World rides!

4. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

It’s the wildest ride in the wilderness! The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland will take guests back to the early days of America’s Gold Rush. Guests will board a rollicking runaway mine train and climb a 200-foot mountain to the Big Thunder Mining Company.  This 5-car locomotive ride includes a booming waterfall, stunning rock formations, canyons and caves, and a landslide. The rides careens through a ghost town Tumbleweed, and features fun critters such as bats, opossum and a goat. Guests must be 40in (102cm) or taller to ride this train. This attraction is considered a thrill ride with small drops. FastPass+ is offered for this attraction.

5. Splash Mountain

Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah!  Guests will enjoy a “hare-raising” adventure in a colorful bayou on Splash Mountain in Frontierland.  This log flume ride takes guests through caves, swamps, and meadows, as well as a thrilling 5-story splashdown. Splash Mountain is home to over 100 talking, singing, storytelling Audio-Animatronics critters, including Br’er Fox, Br’er Bear and Br’er Rabbit along with geese, frogs, raccoons, possums, bees and alligators. This attraction is considered a thrill ride as well as a water ride and features big drops. Splash Mountain is a guest favorite which is why it made our list of not to miss Disney World rides! Guests must be 40in (102cm) or taller to ride Splash Mountain and FastPass+ is offered for this attraction.

6. Pirates of the Caribbean

Dead men tell no tales! The Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Adventureland is a must do! Pirates and princesses of all ages and heights can enjoy this 9-minute attraction. Guests that be seeking adventure will board a small barge and sail past Pirates Grotto, Dead Man’s Cove, Hurricane Lagoon, a Caribbean fort, Captain Barbossa on a 12-gun galleon, and the Dungeon.  Be on the lookout for the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow!  This attraction does contain small drops and can be dark but is a classified as a slow ride.  Savvy mates can skip the long lines as this attraction now offers FastPass.

7. it's a small world

In Fantasyland is another classic attraction with a façade that is as recognizable as the ride’s theme song. Sail around the world in one song as you listen to whimsical children from around the world unite to sing how it's a small world after all. This ride is a classic which is why it made our list of not to miss Disney World rides. This attraction is classified as a slow ride so there is no height requirement and there are FastPasses available.

8. Haunted Mansion

Guests can visit 999 unearthly specters in the Haunted Mansion in Liberty Square. Travelers will enter through a shadowy foyer and board a gloomy Doom Buggy for a spirited tour of the Haunted Mansion. This haunt visits the Portrait Chamber, the Grand Ballroom, and the Graveyard where guest can hear the haunting anthem, “Grim Grinning Ghosts”.  This supernatural attraction hosts a chilling assortment of ghosts, ghouls and supernatural surprises that include the Ghost Host, Madame Leota, and of course, hitchhiking ghosts! Guests of all ages can enjoy this slow ride, but it can be dark. FastPass+ is offered for this attraction.
