If you want to visit Disneyland in 2023 and are looking for the best time to experience the lowest Disneyland crowds- we have our 2023 crowd prediction ready to help you plan your next trip.

Keep reading for the best time to visit for the 2023 lowest Disneyland crowds including our best money saving tips.

Lowest Disneyland 2023 Crowds

One rule of thumb that stays true year after year is that January at Disneyland remains one of the best times to visit for the lowest prices and lowest crowd levels. In 2023 Disneyland will be hosting the celebration to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney Company. The Disney100 kicks off on January 27th 2023 which will create an earlier than usual increase in crowds than we typically see in the Spring months. In honor of the celebration the much anticipated new attraction, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, will also open that same day along. The celebration will also debut a brand new World of Color and fireworks show in honor of the anniversary plus the return of the Magic Happens parade which only ran for two weeks before the parks closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Suffice to say, once the Disney100 celebration begins at the end of January we might not see the usual lull we come to expect to see at Disneyland in February. This means that your best bet for the absolute lowest crowd levels will be the sweet spot between the holiday season ending on January 8th and before the celebration begins on January 27th.

If planing a trip during the lowest Disneyland crowds is your top priority then visiting during this window of time between January 9th and before January 27th is going to be likely the lowest Disneyland 2023 crowd levels we see all year, especially on weekdays as weekends will still tend to see higher crowd levels as locals turn out to visit the parks those days of the week. While we love the holidays at Disneyland, they can be notoriously busy especially after Thanksgiving and some guests may prefer to prioritize a more relaxing experience at the parks.

Cheapest 2023 Disneyland Dates

The cheapest time of year to visit Disneyland is usually in January and February which will likely still hold true this year. Even more so for that brief two week window after the holiday season ends and before the Disney100 celebration begins!

Disneyland often releases on-property hotel discounts in January that tend to be the most significant of the year. You combine those savings with the cheaper airfare in January along with lower travel costs around the board, since January isn't considered a popular travel time, then you will see the most savings.

This is why I usually recommend January as a great trip option for families that want to visit the parks on a budget as you will often get the lowest rates in many areas by visiting Disneyland during this month. You will also see the lowest variable pricing on Genie+ likely during this time in January although we recommend purchasing your Disneyland tickets at a discount in advance from our travel partner with Genie+ added to avoid the chance of any variable pricing!

Since January is considered a slower time of year at Disneyland this is a time that the resort likes to undergo any seasonal refurbishments on rides so it's common to see some rides go down during this time. You can check Disneyland's calendar before your visit to prepare yourself for which rides may not be open. This is one of the biggest downsides of a January visit but Disney does well to balance how many rides are under refurbishment at once. Both Haunted Mansion and it's a small world will need to go down for refurbishment to remove their holiday overlays so this is important to keep in mind!

And of course, hands down the biggest pro of visiting this time of year is for the lowest Disneyland crowds. This is especially helpful for groups that may not handle large crowds well or just want to take a more easygoing approach to the parks. Regardless, we always recommend you follow our Disneyland morning strategy so you can get the most out of your trip! Anytime is a great time to be at Disneyland but you may find visiting during the lowest Disneyland crowd levels to create an extra special memory.
