One of my favorite pastimes is looking at photographs of Disneyland during its first decade. The evolution of fashion during the 20th century was truly a sight to behold. The women wore their gorgeous dresses, nicest pearls, and beautiful bouffants. The men put on their sleekest-looking suits fashioned with a gelled-up ‘do. This is the inspiration for Disneyland Dapper Day, today.
Disneyland Dapper Day is an event dripping with nostalgia and meant for people to celebrate the fashion and lifestyle of various decades.

Disneyland Dapper Day: Basic Information
Besides the most popular “Dapper Day Outing to the Parks”, there are several other offerings including concerts, book signings, and pop-up shops that you’ll get to take part in.
Dapper Day isn't in any way sponsored or endorsed by Disney, so they call it an “unofficial” Disney Parks event. It isn't a private event, either, so the parks will still be open to anyone and everyone, regardless of their participation in the event.
When is Dapper Day?
Dapper Day is held semi-annually at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resorts, and annually at Disneyland Paris. Typically, they hold events for Spring and Fall.
The announced dates for upcoming Dapper Days are as follows:
Fall 2023- Disneyland
- Sat+Sun, Nov 11+12 DAPPER DAY Expo at the Disneyland Hotel
- Sun, Nov 12 Fall Outing to Disneyland CA
- Sat+Sun Dec 2+3 Holiday Outing to Walt Disney World FL
Spring 2024- Disneyland
- Sat+Sun, April 6+7 DAPPER DAY Expo at the Disneyland Hotel
- Sun, April 7 – Dapper Day at Disneyland
Spring 2024- Walt Disney World
- Sat+Sun, April 20+21 Dapper Day Walt Disney World
How Much Does Disneyland Dapper Day Cost?
Since Dapper Day isn't a private event, to attend you'll just need to purchase your own tickets or utilize your annual pass, if you have one.
There are often bonus-ticketed side events you can choose to go to if you’d like book signings, concerts, or special presentations. Specific offerings are available at DapperDay.com. One of the most popular is the Dapper Day Expo, available only at Disneyland. Tickets to attend are $10, and we’ll go into more detail about the Expo in just a moment.

Disneyland Dapper Day: Dress Up
Where to Look for Clothing
There are a variety of places you can find retro and vintage looks, from thrift shops to your grandmother's closet to Amazon. You can even look for fashion inspo on Pinterest or a ton of articles including Dita Von Teese's fashion guide for Dapper Day. The most important thing is to get creative and have fun with it! The clothing store Unique Vintage has a special Dapper Day line.
Disney's Costume Rules
It’s important to remember that while you can pay homage to a Disney character in your outfit with colors or accessories, you cannot wear a costume or impersonate a Disney character. Face paint, weapons, revealing clothes, and wallet chains also are not allowed.

Dapper Day Expo
While other Dapper Days may feature boutiques or other events, Disneyland is the only Dapper Day location that features an expansive expo. During the expo, the Disneyland Hotel Exhibit Hall will be transformed into a 30,000 square foot marketplace for handmade and vintage clothing, accessories, cosmetics, jewelry, shoes, eyewear, and more. Plus, you’ll find a wide assortment of Dapper Day merchandise!
General Tips
Comfort is Key
To fully enjoy your Disney Day, you’ll want to keep comfort in mind even if you’re dressing up! If you’d like to ride roller coasters and water rides, make sure to pick your outfit accordingly. Don’t forget about comfortable shoes!
Arrive Early
The parks will be full on Dapper Day, so make sure to arrive early if you haven’t purchased tickets yet or if you want a shorter wait for all the best photo spots.
Bring a Camera
Phones usually work just fine, but if you’re counting on a day full of photo ops, you may want to bring a camera so you don’t risk your phone running out of battery at a picture-perfect moment. Once inside Disneyland Park, there is no official Dapper Day photo meet-up. If you see some outfits you especially like, don’t be afraid to reach out to other Dapper Day park goers to organize group photos.
